New album
 AN album titled Bihutoli Shuwoni Nachani, released recently, is gaining popularity among the listeners. It contains eight melodious songs by CS Shiva, written and tuned by Torali Sarma, Ranjan Phukan and Eros Kaman. The songs carry a traditional and indigenous flavour. Special mention may be made of songs like Til diya peetha, O moni Nayanmoni and Sonor kharu rupor kharu. The album is presented by Shiva production.
 
TV serial
 A TV serial titled Koinar Certificate has been made by Atul V Baishya (Victor) for Guwahati DD’s commissioned programme. The simple appealing story of the serial is by well-known writter Arun Goswami. Baishya has written the screenplay besides producing and directing the serial. Incidentally, he has 15 TV serials and 40 documentaries to his credit.

The cast in Koinar Certificate includes Jayanta Das, Lakshmi Barthakur, Asha Bordoloi, Lakshmipriya Saikia, Nandita Roy and others. Bhaskarjyoti Goswami is the chief assistant director of the serial made under the banner of ABCC.
 
Essay contest
 An essay competition titled Lakshyadhar Chowdhury Natya Pratibha has been organised by the Lakshyadhar Chowdhury-Usha Chowdhury Memorial Trust. The essay, with a maximum of 1,500 words, should reach before October 1, at the following address: Lakshyadhar Chowdhury- Usha Chowdhury Memorial Trust, BN Das Lane, Ambari, Guwahati-1. The competitor should send in their name, address and phone number along with the copy of the essay. The awards will be given on the annual Kitapor Din. The first, second and third prizes will carry cash awards of Rs 2,500, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 respectively, along with a packet of books.
 
Zikir album
 On the occasion of Holy Ramzan, ASA Production has offered an album of Zikir and Naat-E-Nabi titled Rahamar Girihat. The audio CD has been made in memory of Zikir Samrat Rekibuddin Ahmed. The eight songs and a Naat-E-Nabi are rendered by reputed singer Aman Ahmed, popularly known as Junior Md Rafi. He is supported by the voices of Rajib Bora and Lalit Das. The music arrangement is by Aman Ahmed in association with upcoming arranger Azad. The album is likely to be popular among the lovers of Zikir, an immortal creation of Ajan Fakir Saheb.
 
Chandrama
 A new album titled Chandrama — Mor Manar Akashat recently hit the stands. Presented by Mrinal Sarkar, the album has six soothing songs in the voices of Mrimon Parash and Nilakshi. Mrinalkanti is the music director of this album of Assamese romantic songs.
 
Shibanee Sharma shines abroad
 If dreams had wings... Shibanee, the youngest daughter of Aroti Sharma and yesteryear’s famous actor-director late Jiten Sharma of Nagaon, used to wonder the same. Perseverance and dedication indeed can make dreams come true. Shibanee took to Bharatnatyam at the tender age of 10 and has had the privilege of being trained by various reputed gurus in Assam as well as in Chennai. Soon after her graduation in Bharatnatyam with 1st class from the revered Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts, Kalakshetra, Chennai in June 2008, she got an opportunity to perform in various reputed cultural events across the United Kingdom, thanks to the initiative taken by Anima Sharma, who plays an important role in spreading Indian culture. Shibanee, known for her outstanding abhinaya skills, has earned accolades for her unique choreography style of blending classical dance with modern music. Her performances across London, Glasgow and Edinburgh have earned her immense appreciation and applause. We wish her all the luck and look forward to her creating more pride for the State.
