Music makers
Guwahati was abuzz last Saturday with
the aspiring rock stars taking part in the city auditions of a unique musical talent hunt — ‘Idea Rocks India’ — to be telecast on popular TV channel Colors. The special show will discover the best musicians, instrumentalists and singers in the hunt for India’s best musical band. The auditions were held at Rotary Club, Rotary Multiservice Centre near Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok.
‘Idea Rocks India 4’ gives an opportunity to all Indians, aged 18 years and above, to participate in the first-of-its-kind music talent hunt that will encompass all genres of music — Western, Indian and others. The jury comprises singer Shaan and singer-actress Vasundhara Das along with other celebrities from the entertainment fraternity.
Selected candidates from the audition rounds will be part of a band, based on the musical synergies of individuals. A band can have a unique identity — ranging from a rock band to a folk music band to an all girls’ band to a band playing only instrumental music. These bands will then compete to become the ‘Baap of All Bands’ based on judges’ choice and public voting at the final phase.
‘Idea Rocks India 4’ will go on air on September 27 and will be telecast every Sunday for thirteen weeks. The winning band will get an opportunity to record its own music album with a reputed music label. Dance dhamaka
from rock auditions to dance auditions. Dance enthusiasts of the Northeast now can take part in Sony Entertainment TV’s unique dance format ‘Rin Dance Premier League’. The Guwahati auditions for this show is scheduled for September 13 at Don Bosco School auditorium, Panbazar from 8 am to 4 pm.
To be telecast soon, Rin Dance Premier League will have five teams from different zones of India (North, East, West, South and Central) and an NRI team competing with one another for ‘regional pride’ — to bring glory to their zones by winning. The zonal teams will comprise talented dancers selected through multi-city auditions across different zones. Each team will be mentored by a celebrity choreographer as they chart their journey from anonymity to fame. Furniture first
The wooden furniture creation of budding
interior designer Madhumita Chanda which she named ‘Furniture Beyond’ received the best collection award at the annual award ceremony of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Guwahati recently. Her furniture was the centre of attraction at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Machkhowa that day as everyone present, including the visitors appreciated the beautiful centre table with the looks of a vintage car having unique features. Small wonder that all longed to possess Madhumita’s exciting work of art.
It’s heartening that her husband Ashish Chanda is a fashion designer who is said to have done fashion shows abroad. Together they also run a fashion and interior designing studio at Rehabari in the city. Let’s hope the couple produces more such amazing creations for the connoisseurs of taste and win accolades for Assam.
