Music & fashion
It was an evening of colour
and glimmer. The occasion was a show called Autumn Leaf, organized by the Lions Club of Guwahati Riverview at Pragjyoti ITA Cultural complex at Machkhowa on August 30 in aid of an old age home.
Fashion designer Dipankar Kashyap used the platform to unveil his bridal collection ‘Koina’ that simply mesmerized a packed audience as some select models walked the ramp in colourful glittering attires to the lilting music. Along with the collection ‘Koina’, the official uniform of the Wings Aviation Academy was also launched during the show. It also saw up and coming designers Jay Singh and Von showcasing their latest exciting creations — ‘Fruit Collection’ and ‘Black Magic’. Those who took the ramp included were Wills India model Vinay Rana, Devishree Thakur, Priyanka Choudhury (all from Delhi), popular Assamese model Stuti Choudhury, Sabasini, Amanda, Ajoy and Vicky.
The highlight of the evening was Indian Idol finalist Monali Thakur who enthralled the audience with some hit numbers from Bollywood, including the hugely popular numbers she rendered for films like Race, Dhoom 2, Salaam Namaste, etc.
The function was beautifully hosted by Kingfisher supermodel Sneha Balani. Monsoon magic
Monsoon brings with it the nurturing rains and the much needed relief from the scorching heat. And ask any young boy or girl if they like getting wet in the rain, pat will come the reply, “yeh, very much.” To celebrate this spirit of youth and monsoon, the North East Beauty Forum, the organizers of Miss Luit annual beauty pageant, brings for the first in the region a unique two-title event — Monsoon Diva and Glamour Man that will be held at Shilpgram in Guwahati today.
Sponsored by Geoshine Gems India Pvt Ltd and others, the event, meant for boys and girls in their late teens and early twenties, will be sequenced in artificial rains, billed ‘style shower’, says Medha Saikia, president of NEBF. Already 30 aspirants — 15 boys and 15 girls — are being groomed by big time choreographer Kaushik Ghosh who has been specially flown in from Delhi. The two winners will be judged based on their communication skill, body language, personality and intelligence. Fresh faces
To bring to the fore fresh faces in the
field of modelling, popular Bengali teen magazine Unish Kuri has been organizing a talent show since 2006, the finalists and winners all well placed in the fashion and entertainment industry of the country. The prelims of the Streax Unish Kuri Glam Hunt 2008, held in Guwahati recently, saw Sudhir Choudhury walking away with the winners trophy. He will now compete in the grand finals in Kolkata for the coveted crown.
The winners of the Glam Hunt (one boy and one girl) will get a modelling contract from Streax Hygienic Research Institute, the parent company that owns the hair colour brand, and a chance to feature on the covers of Unish Kuri.
