More train coaches sought

GUWAHATI, Aug 6 - Assam Rail Passengers’ Association (ARPA) has called upon the Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to take immediate steps to increase the number of coaches in the Alipurduar-Lumding Intercity train.

ARPA secretary Dipankar Sharma said that the eleven coaches of the daily train are not sufficient to cater to the rising demands of the passengers.

“The situation is worse in the Guwahati-Rangiya stretch where the train becomes totally crammed. The railways had earlier announced that two additional coaches will be added to the train from June 18, but it has not yet been done,” Sharma added.
