AASAA warns against breach of Bonus Act
STAFF CORRESPONDENT
DIBRUGARH, Sept 24 – All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) has asked the tea planters in the State not to play foul while disbursing bonus to their workers, stating that the students’ body would conduct random evaluation of the bonus payment to check any irregularity.

AASAA president Raphael Kujur today said that bonus should be paid in total fulfilment of the Payment of Bonust Act, 1965. He also called upon the tea managements to pay the maximum bonus to the workers in one disbursement and not in fractions or installments.

Referring to the order of the Labour Commissioner, Assam, in which tea planters have been asked to calculate bonus taking into account the money value of the concessional food grains along with other remuneration as per definition 2 (21) of the Payment of Bonust Act, 1965, the AASAA leader said that in the event of any breach of the law, the tea planters will be dragged to the court.
