|AGP workers asked to join relief ops|
GUWAHATI, Sept 24 – Asking party members to get engaged in flood relief operations, the Asom Gana Parishad today held the State Government squarely responsible for its unpreparedness in responding to large scale inundation in the State. The party condemned the State Government for its indifference to the crisis that has hit lakhs of people.
The AGP expressed its concern over floods in more than 15 districts, and noted that the situation has worsened due to the apathy of the State Government. While people have endured floods in different areas such as Majuli, Sadiya, Dhokuakhana, Morigaon, Dibrugarh, Tinisukia, Jorhat, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is on a foreign tour, the party stated.
The party in an official statement demanded that special funds meant for flood relief and rehabilitation be released immediately.
