3 students held on extortion charges

 TEZPUR, Sept 24 – Three students – Birshing Narjary of Jamuguri Higher Secondary School, Samarshing Goyari of Sowrang High School in Nadwar area and Kanteswar Basumatary of THB College under Sootea PS in Sonitpur district – were arrested today by the Tezpur police at Balipara on charges of making extortion demands.

According to Additional SP PK Nath, the accused students had been serving extortion demands over phone in the name of the NDFB since the last several days in the Sootea and Jamuguri areas. They were arrested while coming to collect extortion money from a person at Balipara.
