Tourism brand summit on Sept 27

 GUWAHATI, Sept 24 – Assam Tourism will be holding a brand summit on tourism coinciding with World Tourism Day at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok on September 27.

A host of dignitaries who are to address the daylong seminar on the occasion include Gev Patel, vice president, Taj Hotels, Rupam Borah, CEO, Virus, New Delhi, Sudhir John Horo, co-founder, The Idea Creative, Dr Mrinmoy Sarma, Dean of Management Sciences, Tezpur University, and HS Das, Principal Secretary, Tourism, Assam, among others.

The seminar will be followed by a brainstorming session amongst the key speakers, opinion makers, bureaucrats, stakeholders, intellectuals, journalists and professionals.

The summit, said to be the first ever of its kind in the State, is primarily aimed at arriving at a strategic roadmap that Assam Tourism could adopt towards making the State a sough-after destination over a period of time, an official statement said.

The speakers are expected to delve deep into the various tenets of branding, branding activities, multiplier effects of tourism brands on other sectors of an economy, etc.

The department is also holding a quiz competition for school students in association with the Tour Operators’ Association of Assam. It would be conducted at the Vivekananda Kendra, Uzanbazar on September 26. The prizes will be distributed at the summit venue the next day.
