ANN Service

MIRZA, Sept 23 - The Mirza-Chandubi PWD road is now facing a severe erosion threat from the Batha river at Muduki near the Borduar Tea Estate under Palasbari LAC in Kamrup district. Despite repeated complaints from various quarters, positive steps are yet to be initiated.

Batha river originating from the Meghalaya hills flow down to Assam through the Muduki-Borduar area along the Assam-Meghalaya border area and it merges with Kulsi river at Kukurmara in Kamrup district.

The Mirza-Chandubi road, which the lifeline for the people in the locality, needs immediate attention from the concerned department. “If the road is breached, surface communication in several villages including the famous Chandubi tourist spot will be disrupted,” villagers said. A section of villagers while talking to ANN Service alleged that the matter was taken up with the concerned department, but it has turned a blind eye. “Chandubi is a famous tourist spot and people visit the area which help the local youths in their business, and therefore, we demand an early solution to the problem,” the villagers said.
