|Webinar on Energy Conservation Building Code|
GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - With an aim to create awareness about the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) among the public and to ensure capacity building of technical professionals, a capacity building webinar was organised by the ECBC Cell of Assam with support from the Assam State Designated Agency (ASDA) recently.
Launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, the ECBC is a set of guidelines that provide minimum requirements for energy efficient design and construction of new commercial buildings. The ECBC Rules and Code of Assam, which is specifically developed to suit the local climatic conditions of Assam, is in the process of being notified in the State Gazette.
Technical professionals ranging from government executives to private practitioners participated in the capacity building exercise. A number of awareness programmes and intensive training workshops have already been organised in the State by the ECBC Cell of Assam with support from the ASDA headed by AC Khataniar, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and the All India Institute of Local Self-Government (AIILSG), New Delhi.
Due to the current pandemic situation, training programmes are being imparted through webinars conducted and moderated online by ECBC Cell project officers Angana Das and Dane Daniel, where BEE-certified ECBC master trainers Ragini Goswami, Shiv Batra and Yatin Choudhary have been the resource persons and presenters.
