Hardcore Reang ultras lay down arms

 HAILAKANDI, Sept 23 – Two members of Reang (Bru) militant outfit United Democratic Liberation Front (UDLA) surrendered before police recently along with arms in a function organized here on the occasion of World Peace Day.

Two hardcore cadres of UDLA namely, Ratan Reang (19) and Debendra Reang (27) submitted their arms before the administration. Ratan submitted one nine mm sub-machine gun and a magazine while Debendra submitted one AK-56 rifle, 13 rounds of bullets, one magazine and one ammunition pouch.

The surrender ceremony and Peace Day function was addressed by Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner S Thiek, Superintendent of Police Brojenjit Sinha, DSP Eman Saikia, CRPF’s Assistant Commandant RP Sharma and inspector Man Singh.

All of the top security officials expressed satisfaction over laying down of arms by the two militants and urged them to dedicate rest of their life for the welfare of the people. They said that the terrorism can’t be the answer to any problem and held the view that all the problems may be solved amicably. They again urged all the outfits to come to the negotiating table with the government to bring peace and tranquility in the society.
