Sports reporter
GUWAHATI, Sept 23 – Nagaland Police cruised into the quarterfinal stage of the 61st Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Bordoloi Trophy Tournament.

In a pre-quarterfinal match of the championship, played at the Nehru Stadium here today, the Nagaland cops posted a deserving 2-0 victory against local outfit Dynamo Club.

Nagaland Police maintained a good spirit from the initial stage and raided the opponent’s territory quite frequently. Their midfielders played a vital role, both in defending and attacking, due to which their frontliners got adequate opportunities in striking zone.

Dynamo also, particularly in the second session, got a couple of scoring chances but they failed to utilise. Abraham Goodluck, Oneyebi Nandos were the men who missed few easy sitters from which goal could have been scored. Abraham once hit the cross piece even after finding the opponent goalkeeper out of his position.

Nagaland Police drew the first blood in the 28th minute through Alfrea Gangmei. Alfrea beat the Dynamo custodian Mantu Mallick with a sharp header off a flag kick taken by Ninja Golmei.

After the break Lipoksashi Ao made it 2-0 with a beautiful goal. Substitute Timas set the ball for Lipokasashi from the left wing who beat the advancing Dynamo goalkeeper with a well controlled chip shot.
