Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita feted

 RANGIYA, Sept 22 - Chief of Staff, HQ, Eastern Command, Lt General Rana Pratap Kalita, a native of Rangiya, was felicitated this afternoon by the local people of greater Paschim Par Baghbari village of Rangiya.

The ceremony, was attended by senior citizens, women, leading citizens, students and others of the locality. Lt Gen Kalita was felicitated with a phulam gamosa, sarai and a citation. In his speech, Lt Gen Kalita recalled the days he had spent near the Tamulpur Army camp, from where his dream to become an Army officer started.

“Only our own dreams can lead us to success. We should never follow others, but let others follow our values and ideals,” he said adding that sincerity, dedication and consistent hard work only can lead us to success. He further stated that he was always focused on his aim and thus he started his career’s journey from Sainik School Goalpara, NDA and subsequently IMA, Dehradun, before joining as the 2nd Lieutenant in Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army. “I urge all to be mentally sound, physically fit, spiritually God fearing and emotionally stable to strive hard in order to become a responsible citizen of the country, showcasing their hidden talents,” he said wishing all success to the people and prevalence of peace and tranquility everywhere. The ceremony was also attended by his wife, besides many other invited dignitaries.
