Rahul visits quake-hit Sikkim

 GANGTOK, Sept 21 – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today made an aerial survey of quake-hit North Sikkim, besides visiting an affected village and a hospital here.

Accompanied by Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, the Congress General Secretary made the aerial survey of the North district which had suffered the maximum number of casualties 37, officials said here.

Gandhi also visited the Central Referral Hospital, Manipal, here and interacted with the injured.

After the aerial survey, he left for Meghalaya.

Mamata: The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee yesterday assured all assistance to Sikkim, its neighbouring State, to cope up with the problems facing the State in the wake of the massive earthquake.

She was talking to media persons during her brief visit to Sikkim. On arrival at Gangtok yesterday, she drove straight to the Central Manipal Referral Hospital at Tadong and saw the earthquake victims who are undergoing treatment.

She was accompanied by Union Minister Mukul Roy and Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim PD Rai and Minister RMDD, CB Karki during the visit. – PTI
