GUWAHATI, Sept 20 – Defending champions Manipur won both the men and women team titles in the Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship.
On the second day of the four-day meet at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today, Manipur men defeated SSB 2-0 (21-14, 21-18, 21-12, 21-15), while their women counterpart downed Nagaland by an identical margin of 2-0 (21-12, 21-18, 19-21, 21-10, 21-10).
Assam women bagged the bronze medal with a 2-0 (21-6, 21-9, 21-3, 21-10) victory against Maharashtra in the play off match for the third place.
In the men’s semifinals, Manipur beat Mizoram 2-0, while SSB got the better of Nagaland also by a margin of 2-0. In the women’s semifinals, Manipur defeated Assam 2-0, while Nagaland beat Maharashtra 2-0.
The Regu event also started today which is played in league-cum-knock-out basis.
