|3 more deaths in Manipur|
IMPHAL, Sept 19 - With the death of three more persons, the COVID-19 toll in Manipur rose to 55 today, officials said.
“In the last 24 hours, three males aged 80 years (Imphal West), 57 years (Imphal West) and 65 years (Thoubal) expired at the RIMS and the JNIMS respectively,” stated the COVID-19 Common Control Room here in a press release.
Meanwhile, 116 civilians and one Central Armed Police Forces personnel were confirmed positive in the past 24 hours, an official bulletin stated. The new cases are from eight districts of the State, it added. Five persons out of the general population are returnees from other States, while the rest 111 are local residents without any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 94 persons were discharged from seven COVID care facilities after they were found negative in the past 24 hours, the bulletin said.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 8,724, while the recovered cases stand at 6,723. The number of active cases is 1,946. The recovery rate is 77.06 per cent in the State.
As of Friday, 3,69,450 people were screened at various entry points of the State, while 2,06,986 samples were tested for COVID-19, according to the latest report of the State Surveillance Officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
