|3 held in ATM robbery case|
IMPHAL, Sept 19 - Police have arrested three persons suspected to have been involved in a recent ATM robbery case in Churachandpur district. A security guard of a cash replenishment agency was killed in the incident.
The three arrested persons are employees of the Writers Safeguard Group, a cash replenishment agency sub-contracted by the State Bank of India for cash management, sources said.
They have been identified as V Thangkhanmuan (40), K Somen Singh (36) and Kongkham Brojen Singh (40).
The ongoing police effort has led to the recovery of Rs 20 lakh from one of the arrested, the sources added.
On September 4, armed miscreants attacked an ATM cash loading vehicle in Churachandpur town and fled with Rs 1.15 crore in cash after shooting the security guard, Arambam Ranjan (37).
3 killed in road mishap: Three youths died and two others were critically injured when the car they were travelling in, hit a tree along the Imphal-Ukhrul Road under the Heingang Police Station on Friday. The police have registered a case for necessary action.
