NHPC to hold talks with AASU, ethnic bodies

 GUWAHATI, Sept 19 National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) authorities will hold a discussion with the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and the 26 ethnic organisations which have been allying with it on the issue of the issue of Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project (LSHEP), at the conference room of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok here. The discussion will take place in the evening tomorrow, said an AASU press release.

The leaders of the 26 ethnic organisations and the AASU will meet in a discussion at 5 pm tomorrow at the Swahid Nyas Bhawan here.

AS Prasad, Joint Secretary of the Union Power Ministry and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the NHPC, Santikam Hazarika, independent director of the NHPC and several officers of the Central sector power company will be present at the discussion between the NHPC and the students and ethnic organisations.

The AASU and its ally organisations have been keeping a strict vigil on the movement of the construction materials of the LSHEP.
