Hollywood film on Majuli

 JORHAT, Sept 19 – In a bid to focus the age-old traditions of Assam in front of the world, the first-ever documentary-feature film made in Hollywood entitled In Search of God in the settings of the river island Majuli, is going to be released in Hollywood and New York on September 23.

The film is directed by Rupam Sharma, who hails from Jorhat and is now a resident of USA. The story was also conceived by Rupam Sharma himself. This was revealed by Nayanjyoti Sharma, brother of Rupam Sharma at a press conference at Press Club, Jorhat here.

The theme of the film is a transformative journey of an American woman who finds deeper meaning in her life after travelling to a mystical island in India where the inhabitants use artistic expression as a means for communicating with God.

“The docu-feature film will screen the culture of satras and the lives of the various communities in the river island Majuli”, said Sharma. Rupam Sharma, a gifted music composer has himself directed the film.
