GUWAHATI, Sept 17 - A consignment of agar wood chips was seized from the Guwahati airport this morning after the person carrying it could not produce documents supporting the same.
The chips were detected during routine screening of the luggage carried by one Ajay Sarawgi, who was booked for an Indigo flight from Guwahati to New Delhi.
Although Sarawgi initially claimed to have valid documents in his possession, he, however, could not produce the same before the Wildlife Crime and Control Bureau that was intimated by the airport authorities.
Subsequently, Sarawgi’s luggage was offloaded and the items were handed over to the Range Officer (Rani) for further investigation. A case has also been registered in this connection.
