Nagaland cases reach 5,263

 DIMAPUR, Sept 16 - Altogether 34 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Nagaland today. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 5,263.

 In a briefing, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha said 31 of the new cases are from Dimapur, two from Mon and one from Kohima.

He said out of the 5,263 positive cases, 3,968 persons have already recovered. The active cases stand at 1,261. There have been 10 deaths in the State due to the virus.

As per the severity of symptoms, 1,252 active cases are asymptomatic, seven cases are mild and two cases are moderate.

Of the 5,263 positive cases, 2,481 are from the armed forces and police, 1,418 are returnees, 320 are frontline workers and 1,044 are traced contacts.

Sinha said that a total of 45,353 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 44,729 samples have been received. Besides, 25,731 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat and the results of 25,714 samples have been received. Through rapid antigen tests, 1,188 samples have been tested.

Sinha said that 637 persons are under facility quarantine now.
