Political parties start wooing voters in BTAD region

 UDALGURI, Sept 15 - Although the State Election Commission yet to take a final decision on the BTC elections, all the political parties in the region have started their activities to woo the voters.

 BJP and BPF are locking horns in the elections as top rivals, while the UPPL, after signing the BTR Accord on January 27 last, is fully confident to retain power in the BTAD region and, as such, it has prepared its vision document for all-round development of the region. The Indian National Congress is also is not lagging behind in the race.

In all the 10 constituencies in Udalguri district, hectic political activities are presently going on. Meanwhile, a grand joining ceremony was held yesterday by Congress at the Udalguri Rajiv Bhawan where people from parties like BPF, BJP and UPPL joined Congress. In another programme, a total of 200 persons from BPF, BJP and UPPL joined Congress under the 38 Bhairabkunda constituency.

On the other hand, a total of 176 persons, earlier belonging to BJP, Congress and UPPL, joined the BPF in Udalguri district. Meanwhile, the BJP has expressed its satisfaction for its recent political activities in the district. Ajay Hazarika, general secretary of the district committee of BJP, informed that over 3,000 people joined the party since September 1 last at Khoirabari, Tangla, Udalguri, Orang and Mazbat.

On the other hand, Promod Boro, president of UPPL, had already visited various parts of the district and met a cross-section of people and workers.
