|DGP highlights 9th APBn’s contributions|
NAGAON, Sept 15 - With a day-long agenda, the Barhampur-based 9th Assam Police Battalion celebrated the golden jubilee of its Rising Day on Monday.
The battalion was formed on September 14, 1970 in the old capital city of earlier Assam, at Shillong, now in Meghalaya and was later shifted to Abhoyapuri, and then in 1996 the same battalion was shifted to Barhampur in Nagaon district.
Director General of Assam Police, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, the DGP highlighted the glorious contribution of the battalion towards the State and her people and also its years of dedicated service.
Pointing to the health condition of the police personnel, DGP Mahanta said that all police personnel would henceforth have to undergo health check-up at least once every year.
DGP Mahanta also released a souvenir named Abhigyanom, published on the occasion of the celebration. He also inaugurated an ATM booth of the State Bank of India just in front of the Battalion headquarters at Barhampur.
DGP Mahanta was accompanied by ADGP LR Vishnu and popular Assamese film actress Asha Bordoloi.
At the outset, Battalion Commandant Hitesh Roy welcomed all the guests to the function.
