One more succumbs to virus in Meghalaya

 SHILLONG, Sept 15 - One more person died due to COVID-19 and 172 new positive cases were reported in Meghalaya during the last 24 hours. The deceased, who was 67 years old, passed away at the Shillong Civil Hospital. Out of the new cases, 74 have been reported in the East Khasi Hills district. Among these cases, 21 are armed forces personnel.

 As many as 61 cases were reported from the East Jaintia Hills. All these cases were reported from the Star Cement factory. Subsequently, the entire factory area has been declared a containment zone.

Meanwhile, in the Keating Road area here, testing of residents continued for the third day today after it was notified as a containment zone on Saturday.

The total active cases in the State have now risen to 1,818.
