Arunachal records one more virus death

 ITANAGAR, Sept 15 - Arunachal Pradesh on Monday registered one more COVID-19 death with a 50-year-old frontline warrior succumbing to the infection while undergoing treatment in an Assam hospital.

 The 50-year-old non-APST male patient died at the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital due to septicemia with ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and encephalopathy, informed State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

The deceased worked as a health assistant at the PHC, Hollongi, and had been actively engaged in COVID-19 duties since March till August 5 at the Hollongi check gate. He had tested positive for the virus on September 3 and gone for home isolation. He was admitted to hospital on September 6 when his condition worsened. He died on September 11.

With this, the State’s COVID-19 death toll has mounted to 11.

Meanwhile, continuing its rising trend in COVID-19 infections, Arunachal Pradesh on Monday recorded 176 fresh cases, taking its tally of confirmed cases to 6,298, according to a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here.

On the day, as many as 156 patients also recuperated and were discharged from various hospitals, pushing the number of recovered cases to 4,535. The State’s active cases stand at 1,756.

Of the new cases, 164 were found to be asymptomatic and 12 symptomatic, as per the bulletin.
