GUWAHATI, Sept 14 - “Library plays an important role in enriching our knowledge base. It also increases the stock of our knowledge bank and makes us fit to face life upfront,” said Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi while laying the foundation stone for a new building for digital library and art gallery at Raj Bhavan today.
The Governor said that the collections of books should be very carefully done so that the library apart, from quenching the thirst of knowledge, stimulates physical and mental faculties. He hoped that the library would help the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan to increase their thinking potential and give them time and scope to spend time in the library.
It may be mentioned that the digital library and art gallery would be constructed by the State Public Works Department with a total cost of Rs 205.545 lakh. The expected time for completion of the work is one year.
Secretary to the Governor Sanjib Kumar Gohain Barua, Chief Engineer PWD(B) Jyotish Sharma along with the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan and PWD were also present at the function.
