APCC chief urges CM to intervene in GVK EMRI strike|
GUWAHATI, Sept 14 - Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora today called upon Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to intervene in the matter of the ongoing strike of the GVK EMRI staff.
Bora has written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard. “... by ignoring their demand for eight-hour-work in a day, which is an established rule all over the world, your government has violated their human rights. It is unfortunate that the eight-hour-duty rule for them is not followed in spite of specific order from the labour department of your government. Their two other demands are release of their due increment and regularisation of their services,” Bora stated in the letter.
Bora added that thousands of patients are facing untold suffering due to the non-cooperation. He called upon the Chief Minister to intervene and immediately call the agitators to the negotiation table before the situation worsens further.
