Trader shot dead in Nalbari

NALBARI, Sept 14 – Unidentified gunmen shot dead a businessman, Ashish Maskara (23) at Nalbari town around 10.45 today. Maskara,owner of Ashish Agency of the town, died on the spot and the miscreants snatched away more than Rs 7.53 lakh brought to the bank branch. Meanwhile, the Nalbari Police arrested two persons, Chandan Kalita and Kamaljit Singh and recovered Rs 5 lakh from their possession.According to sources, the businessman was going to the SBI Harimandir branch in a Mahindra pick-up van to deposit the amount from his shop located along NT Road.When he arrived in front of the bank branch situated just opposite the Nalbari Harimandir and proceeded towards the bank, two miscreants on a bike tried to snatch away the amount. As the businessman opposed them, they shot him from very close range. Though the driver of the pick-up van raised hue and cry, the miscreants managed to flee the spot. |
