|‘Cancer is neither a killer nor a curse’|
JORABAT, Sept 13 - “Cancer is considered as a killer disease because we have framed it as a killer. It is neither a killer nor a curse,” said Dr DK Nath, senior head and neck cancer surgeon at the North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (NECHRI), Jorabat during a special orientation programme for students in the NECHRI auditorium today.
The programme was organised in association with the Department of Social Work of Nerim Group of Institutions, Guwahati.
Dr Nath further said that cancer is one of the most preventable as well as curable diseases. He focused on the preventive measures of the disease and its warning signs. He also highlighted the ill effects of tobacco consumption. He asserted that cancer can be cured easily if treated in time.
Dr Gitartha Roymedhi, chief operating officer at NECHRI and Dr Bijoy Das, head of the Department of Social Work, Nerim were also present at the programme where around 50 students from the institution took part.
