Mukul Sangma worst Chief Minister: Tynsong
Staff Correspondent
SHILLONG, Sept 13 - In the continuing war of words between NPP and Congress, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has dubbed former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma as the “worst CM,” he has ever worked under.

Tynsong was reacting to Sangma’s remark that running the Government is not easy and it is being amply demonstrated by the present National People’s Party (NPP)-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government.

Tynsong, a senior NPP leader in MDA Cabinet, said that during his political career he has worked under different CMs and Sangma has been the worst amongst them.

“I was part of the Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance Government and I found out that he (Sangma) was the worst CM I have ever worked with in my political career,” Tynsong said.

The Deputy CM was earlier a senior Congress legislator but parted ways due to his differences with Sangma. He alleged Sangma of being dictatorial and who never gave space to others in the Cabinet.

Tynsong who began his political career by winning the then Lyngkyrdem Assembly constituency in 2003 on Congress ticket, has retained the seat so far, which is now known as Pynursla constituency. He won the seat on a NPP ticket in the last Assembly election.

During his political career he has worked under Congress Chief Ministers DD Lapang, JD Rymbai and of course Sangma and under CMs like EK Mawlong, FA Khonglam and Donkupar Roy when in the Opposition.

Rubbishing Sangma’s statement further, Tynsong said he is making irrational and unfair statements. “The present Government is running smoothly under the leadership of CM Conrad Sangma and working in the interest of the people,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tynsong who is also heading the High Level Committee constituted to relocate the residents of Punjabi Lane, said, the committee is working hard to submit its recommendation quickly to the State Government.

He said the committee has met the Syiem of Hima Mylliem (traditional chief) and several rounds of meetings are scheduled in the coming days. “The goal of the committee is to meet all stakeholders and then submit a comprehensive report to the Government,” the Deputy CM said.
