|Lecture on physics held at GU|
JALUKBARI, Sept 13 - The Department of Physics, Gauhati University, in association with the Physics Academy of North East (PANE), organised a PANE lecture at the department yesterday.
Dr Bidut Jyoti Roy, Scientist-G from the Nuclear Physics Division, BARC, Mumbai, delivered the PANE lecture on the topic, ‘Experimental facilities and detectors for nuclear physics experiment’.
Dr Roy gave a brief overview of the accelerator facilities and various types of detectors used in nuclear physics experiments. He also discussed some interesting experiments carried out by using these facilities.
An attempt is being made to bring the communities of nuclear physics and high energy physics into one platform from all over India by organising such lectures, Dr Kushal Kalita, associate professor and joint secretary of PANE, stated.
