|913 SHGs of Nalbari get Rs 22 crore in mega loan mela|
NALBARI, Sept 12 - As many as 913 self-help groups (SHGs) of Nalbari district were provide bank credit amounting to Rs 22.32 crore at a function held at Nalbari Natya Mandir on Wednesday.
A mega credit camp was organised in this connection by NABARD, in convergence with the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission. The meeting was attended by Nalbari DC Bharat Bhusan Deb Choudhury, NABARD regional office’s chief general manager Siva Shankar Saha, Nalbari Zila Parishad CEO Madhusudan Nath, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank chairman Upendra Sabar, UCO Bank zonal manager AK Machary among others.
Over 700 members from SHGs took part in the mega loan mela. NABARD DDM Devajyoti Biswas briefed the participants about the E-Shakti project, while NABARD AGM Bhaskar Mahanta spoke on the benefits of E-Shakti for bankers and SHG members. DC Bharat Bhusan Deb Choudhury said all SHGs will now be in a digital platform through E-Shakti and it will take Nalbari to an advantageous position.
NABARD CGM Saha said that if E-Shakti is successful in Nalbari, NABARD will extend the project to another two districts of Assam. He also said more credit camps will be organised in the coming days.
