|Landslide hits Sikkim monastery|
GANGTOK, Sept 11 - A landslide has struck the premises of the historic Pemayangtse monastery in West district of Sikkim. It was triggered by incessant rain since the last few days.
Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs and Rural Development Sonam Lama visited the monastery today to take stock of the situation. During his visit, he also offered prayers.
The minister later directed the officials concerned to take all necessary measures to control the situation and restore the Gumpa premises to the earlier state.
Later, Lama chaired a coordination meeting of the Jal Jiwan Mission Project in West district. The meeting was attended by the DC, the ADC, Rural Development officials and heads of various government departments of the district.
During the interaction session, the minister asked the officials to complete all projects under the mission immediately.
