GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - As part of the Prime Minister’s call during his Independence Day speech to abandon single-use plastic, the Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction Organization) today launched a drive with the aim to abandon single-use plastic on its premises.

“All the staff and officers offered shramdaan on plastic waste thrown around the office complex. The drive will be continued till October 2,” said SK Ojah, Senior Public Relations Officer (SPRO) of NFR (Construction).

A fortnight-long ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ campaign has also been launched. The theme of this year’s Swachhta hi Sewa is ‘Plastic waste management and effective ban of single-use plastic.’

Mohan Lal, Chief Administrative Officer of NFR (Construction), also administered a pledge to all officers and staff of the headquarters on the occasion.
