Security tightened in Dhubri dist

 GOLAKGANJ, Sept 11 – After a brief lull in violence, the district administration on Monday relaxed the indefinite curfew in Dhubri and Bilashipara subdivision.

Curfew in Bilashipara subdivision was relaxed for 12 hours from 6 am to 6 pm and for 5 hours from 12 am to 5 pm in Gauripur, Golakganj and Tamarhat areas in Dhubri subdivision. But due to rumours still doing the rounds, curfew under Dhubri police station was relaxed for 2 hours only, i.e. from 12 am to 2 pm.

According to police sources, shoot-at-sight was ordered. LR Bishnoi, the Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) said the situation under control and police personnel, BSF, CRPF, Army and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed to tackle the situation. A company of RAF from Chirang district will come to Dhubri today, it was informed.

Acting on a tip off, Dhubri police arrested at least 14 persons.
