Cong MLA gets extortion call from ULFA
CORRESPONDENT
SIVASAGAR, Sept 11 – Debabrat Saikia, MLA of Nazira had received an extortion call from the Paresh Baruah faction of ULFA, demanding Rs 30 lakh.

A case has been registered by Saikia in Simaluguri Police Station. It is learnt that the demand was made by hardcore ULFA cadre Rupantar Kakoti on August 25.

This incident has created widespread sensation. While Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has been repeatedly claiming that Paresh Baruah faction of ULFA has become weaker, the fact that ULFA made extortion money from an MLA has negated the claim.
