Five railway stations to be closed down

 BADARPUR, Sept 11 – Due to lack of sufficient railway employees, including station masters and railway ticket booking clerks, the NF Railway authority has decided to close five railway stations between Badarpur-Vairabi section.

The railway stations are Manachara, Amala, Katlichara, Ramnathpur and Jamaria. The decision of the railway authority to close these stations have badly affected the general people especially the business communities and the matter has already been brought to the notice of the railway authority.

The Railway Mazdoor Union said that similar problems were seen in Silchar-Agartala section and 13 railway stations were closed. The union has urged the railway authority to immediately start the functioning of these railway stations with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the railway ticket counter of Badarpur Railway Station will soon be face lifted with all modern facilities, said Rakesh Kumar Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, NF Railway, Maligaon.

The DRM who visited the railway town recently for inspection was shocked to see the reservation counters where six to seven machines were not functioning.

He also ordered the railway officials to run the passenger and good trains timely. The DRM also inspected the railway carage and wagon section where the officials highlighted him about the various problems faced by them. He also inspected the railway colonies and interacted with the members of Badarpur Railway Mazdoor Union and Employees Union and assured them to solve the problems very shortly.

The DRM said that once the Silchar-Badarpur-Lumding broad gauge line starts then Badarpur Railway Station will be one of the beautiful railway station with all modern amenities and customer care facilities.
