GUWAHATI, Sept 11 – The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) today announced the release of its much-awaited socio-political thriller, Ekhon Nedekha Nodir Xipare – As The River Flows, on September 14.

The film, produced by the NFDC and directed by noted regional film director Bidyut Kotoky, will hit the movie halls across the State.

With Bollywood actors Sanjay Suri and Bidita Bag playing the lead roles, the film also casts veteran actor Victor Banerjee, Raj Zutshi, Nakul Vaid, Naveed Aslam, besides music director Zubeen Garg and Bollywood actress Preeti Jhangiani in cameo roles, a press release stated.

While Madhu Ambat is the cinematographer, Zubeen Garg is the music director of the film. The title track of the film is a poem recited by late Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The lyrics have been written by the director of the film himself.

Vikramjit Roy, General Manager, NFDC, said, “We are looking forward to the release of one of the the most awaited films from our stable and witness the response to this socio-political thriller. We are confident that the story and its soulful music will strike a chord and touch the hearts of the people in Assam, which also would not have been complete without Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s voice lent to the poem in the film.

Director Bidyut Kotoky said, “I am very happy to announce the release of the film and present to you the melodious songs which very gracefully blend with the storyline and the beautiful surroundings and culture of Assam. With the continued support of NFDC right from day one, we have tried our best to bring the best.”

As a peace gesture for North-eastern people, the Government of Maharashtra screened the film for a select group of people on September 5.
