Cong selecting candidates in Tripura
Correspondent
AGARTALA, Sept 9 – The winning possibility will be the key for getting party ticket for contesting the coming Assembly election in Tripura, said AICC secretary K Jayakumar.

The AICC will not read much on things like senior, junior or heavyweight leader, rather the focus will be on winning prospect while picking up party nominee for the battle of ballots, Jayakumar, who has been touring the State extensively over the past few days said here on Sunday.

“At the end of the day, only victory matters”, he said adding that the party would declare candidates for the Mission 2013 as decided in the first TPCC election committee meeting held at Congress Bhavan here today.

Giving details on the decisions taken in the meeting, Jayakumar said, this time the party would focus on the plight of indigenous people and SC population during the election campaign.

Jayakumar, who is entrusted to supervise the party affairs in the poll-bound State, also asserted the AICC has already engaged two Ministers/MPs/MLA for each two Assembly segments to supervise the election preparation. “They will go to the designated constituencies, mobilise party workers and supporters for holding party programmes.
