GUWAHATI, Sept 8 – It was indeed a crucial match for both Assam Police Blues and Gauhati Town Club in the Abhishek Motors RG Baruah Super League Football’s relegation group as both the teams were in a must win situation.

But no team could show their thrust in scoring goals and finally settled for a goal less draw.

After today’s drawn match Police took themselves in a tight corner as now they have only 7 points with one match to go. On the other hand Town are one point ahead and in the last match they will take on FCI which is already in a safe position with 11 points.

It was a poor match at the Nehru Stadium as both the teams were off coloured in initiating moves. Policemen in particular were lacking in cohesion and ill directed passes spoilt their moves at the pre matured stage.

Town defenders, however showed some determination an never allowed the police attackers to create any danger.

It was Town forward Jakson Victor ‘O’ could be blamed for the draw as he missed the target on two occasions from hand shaking distance. In the fifth minute of the second session he failed to divert the ball into net when his Nigerian colleague Enondji Patrick Arol set for him at the goal mouth.

At the later stage of the match Jackson again missed the target when Janap Deori made a square pass to him in front of the empty goal.

Today’s match: (Champions group) Dynamo vs Navajyoti.
