STAFF CORRESPONDENT
DIBRUGARH, Sept 7 - A police case has been lodged against Prateek Hajela, the State NRC Coordinator by one Chandan Mazumdar of Tarun Samiti Lane of Shantipara here for allegedly deleting the names of his family members from the final NRC published on August 31 last.

Mazumdar, who had earlier contested Assembly election as an Independent candidate in 2006 lodged the case at the Sadar Police Station here.

A case (1469/2019 u/s 120 (B)/166/167 IPC) was registered in this regard. The complainant has alleged that deletion has been done deliberately with a criminal intent despite the production of all required documents.

Mazumdar while talking to this Correspondent said that he had provided the legacy data of his mother (1951), besides other documents.

“The NRC team had visited our house for verification on two occasions. We appeared for hearing at our local NRC Seva Kendra and also at the Chabua Circle Office.

Moreover, my grandfather was a Railway employee. My brother’s name has appeared, but how come my name, my wife’s name and my son’s name have been omitted, I don’t understand,” he said.
