GUWAHATI, Sept 5 - Teacherís Day was celebrated across the State with a series of programmes. Teachers were also felicitated in various places for their contributions in the field of education.

Nagaon: In Nagaon, the Teacherís Day was celebrated in various places with a series of programmes. A function was organised at the district library auditorium which was chaired by Jayanta Kumar Bora, ADC, Nagaon.
Participating in the function as a chief guest, Dr KK Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, appealed to the students to dedicate themselves in building a better society.
Altogether 33 teachers were felicitated for their contributions towards academic environment.
Tinsukia: Tinsukia district too observed the 57th Teacherís Day today. On the occasion, a district-level meeting was organised at the auditorium of Tinsukia College. The meeting was presided by noted educationist, Radha Kanta Gogoi. Around 25 teachers were felicitated in the meeting for their remarkable and dedicated services towards the academic scenario of the district. The meeting was addressed by Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia of Kanoi College, Dibrugarh, Partha Pratim Bairagi, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Amir Hussain, Inspector of Schools and other dignitaries.
Hailakandi: The Teacherís Day was celebrated in a befitting manner across the district.
A function was organised at Nazrul Sadan auditorium here today, District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar urged the teachers and students to help create a congenial atmosphere for the development of the state in particular and the country as a whole on various fronts.
Speaking on the occasion, Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha said teachers are the backbone of society and they help to mould the future of the students.
Former Professor of Lala Higher Secondary School, Binoy Bhushan Nath, former Professor of SS College, Hailakandi, Poritosh Chanda and others spoke on the occasion. Altogether 33 teachers were felicitated.
Haflong: Haflong also celebrated the Teacherís Day with various programmes. A function was organised by Inspector of Schools in which several teachers were felicitated.
Baihata Chariali: Under the aegis of Madhya Kamrup Unnayan Parishad (MKUP) , the Teacherís Day was celebrated at Singerpara Patidarrang High School , here with a day-long colourful programme. The programme began with the banti prajalan and paying tributes to the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Kishor Kumar Bhattacharya, secretary of MKUP briefly described the significance of the Teacherís Day and delivered welcome address .
Kokrajhar: Teacherís Day was celebrated in Kokrajhar with various programmes.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary while addressing a meeting as chief guest which was organised in this connection appealed to the teachers to work for the society. ď Despite odds, our teachers have been performing their duties with full commitment and dedication,Ē he said.
In Kokrajhar, the main programme was organised at the auditorium hall of Basic Training Center, which was presided over by AK Basumatary, Secretary, Education. BTC, Kokrajhar.
In the programme, altogether 143 retired teachers of Higher Secondary, ME and LP schools of Kokrajhar were felicitated.
Dergaon: The 57th teacherís Day was celebrated here today with a day-long programme.
The programme began with paying of floral tributes by Principal of DBTC Usha Mahanta .
The Principal also unveiled the wall magazine of the centre titled Prajna. That was followed by the open meeting chaired by the Principal and objective of the meeting was explained by Papu Loying.
The teacher trainees of the centre felicitated the Principal and the teachers of the centre. Several teacher trainees like Asfica Begum, Satyajit Das presented songs, dance and poem recitation etc.
