CBI sleuths summon e-rickshaw beneficiaries
A Correspondent
NAGAON, Sept 4 - Beneficiaries of an e-rickshaw scheme, implemented under the SIRD (State Institute of Rural Development) under the last Congress-led government in Samaguri constituency, have been summoned by CBI sleuths to appear before them in their office at Guwahati.

According to sources, during the Congress’ tenure, former minister, Rokibul Hussain, under a special subsidy scheme of SIRD distributed e-rickshaws among some unemployed youths of the constituency and at that time, all the beneficiaries deposited Rs 10,000.00 each for those e-rickshaws.

But when they received the summons issued by the CBI, they came to know it that those e-rickshaws that they got from the then minister Rokibul Hussain under the scheme, were supplied on the basis of a bank loan from IDBI, Nagaon branch. But what exactly is there behind the summons or how it all happened is still under wraps, the sources said adding that details would come out when the beneficiaries face the CBI officials in Guwahati.

On the other hand, a sleuth of Guwahati-based CBI office today visited Nagaon and started an investigation into the case registered in 2017 in connection to anomalies under the said scheme under the SIRD.
