Pro-Bodoland protests in Assam

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 1, (PTI): Hundreds of supporters of the pro-talk faction of National Democratic Front of Boroland - Progressive (NDFB-P) today staged demonstrations in various parts of Assam and submitted a memorandum demanding a separate state.

Protesters handed a memorandum to the district administration to be submitted later to the Prime Minister demanding a peaceful solution to the Bodo tangle.

The supporters also wanted speeding up of the process of peace talks between the NDFB-P and the government over the issue.

Protests were held across Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts (BTAD) and other areas in Assam for a separate state for Bodos.

Demonstrators staged sit-ins in front of the offices of the district deputy commissioners and subdivisional officers in Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Baksa and Chirang, besides Dhubri, Dhemaji and other districts.
