Bhupenda’s photographs to be displayed at Delhi fest

 GUWAHATI, Oct 29 - A grand pavilion displaying the memorable and landmark photographs of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika would be inaugurated by noted singer Usha Mangeshkar in the presence of Tej Hazarika, the son of the legendry musician from Assam, during the 9th edition of the fest- ‘Celebrating Northeast’ being organised on November 2-3 in New Delhi.

 North East region and Assam’s rich cultural heritage, music, art, textiles, handicraft and cuisine will be showcased at Delhi’s largest shopping mall ‘Select City Walk’ during the two-day affair organised by the North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT).

An English documentary on the Bard will be shown on both the days to introduce his life and music to the young generation of the capital.

Vikram Rai Medhi, the festival director and CEO of NEIFT informed that the two-day festival will witness live performances by heartthrob Zubeen Garg and singers Joi Barua and Deeplina Deka.

This year the NEIFT Excellence Award will be presented to film-maker Rima Das for her achievements. Both days of the festival will also witness mega fashion shows featuring super models like Nayanika Chaterjee, Sonalika Sahay with 32 topline international models. Eight designers from Northeast will display their collections at the festival. There will be thematic exhibition of handicraft and handloom products along with the local cuisines of the Northeast.

Entry to the two-day festival will be free and the organisers expect the support of Delhi and NCR residents in huge numbers like in the previous years.
