AASU tribute to 2008 blast victims today
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Oct 29 - The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) is organising a statewide programme tomorrow to pay tribute to the victims of the serial bomb blasts of October 30, 2008.

As part of the programme, AASU will light earthen lamps in memory of the departed souls.

The serial bomb blasts in Guwahati, Barpeta Road, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar on October 30, 2008 remain among the most dastardly acts of terrorism the State has witnessed.

“AASU will light lamps in all district and sub-divisional headquarters to condemn terror and pay tribute to the blast victims. It is unfortunate that despite more than a decade of the incident, exemplary punishment has not been given to the culprits behind such a heinous crime. Similarly, the persons injured in the terror attacks were neither properly treated nor rehabilitated. The government must expedite the process to ensure proper justice to the victims,” leaders of the student body said.
