Assam girls enter final

 GUWAHATI, Oct 28 – Spirited Assam stormed into the final of the All India U-19 Women Cricket Championship.

 In the final Assam will play against Himachal Pradesh at Bhopal on October 31.

In the final super league match of the championship at Bhopal today, Assam outplayed Andhra Pradesh by a big margin of 79 runs.

Electing to bat first Assam girls notched up 161 losing seven wickets in 50 overs and bundled out the opponent team for 82 in 41.3 overs.

Earlier, in the east zone championship Assam defeated Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa and Tripura while in the super league State girls got the better of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Andhara Pradesh in a convincing way.

Brief scores: Assam 161/7 (Ritu Dhrub 38, Chanu M Leima 26). Andhra Pradesh 82 (S Meghna 17, Chanu M Leima 4/16, Babli Gogoi 2/8).
