Kathin Civar Dan Utsav observed at Chalapather

 SONARI, Oct 25 - ‘Kathin Civar Dan Utsav’ was observed today at Chalapather Buddha Vihar (Buddhist Monastery) in Charaideo district.

Representing the King of Thailand, the Deputy Chief Permanent Secretary to the King offered Thailand King’s royal and prestigious ‘The Royal Thai Kathina Civara Dana’ at Chalapather Buddha Vihar today. Ministers of Thailand Government and Officers of Thailand’s Embassy along with representatives of the Indian Government and Government of Assam were also present on this occasion. Earlier, the Chairperson of the Chala Buddha Vihar Dr Bhadanta Sasanbonsha Mahathere hoisted the religious flag and welcomed the representative of Thailand King, officers of the Thailand Embassy and inaugurated the Utsav. It may be mentioned that the Buddhists of South-East Asia observe this utsav in the month of October and November after observing three-month long Winter Brat by the monks of Buddhism and the followers of the religion offers ‘Civara’, special wearing dress of the monks. This offering includes other daily usable articles also. The King of Thailand offers ‘Kathin Civara Dan’ every year for the well being of the people of his country and for earning mental peace and piety. Thousands of followers of Buddhist religion from across the State were present on the occasion.
