Elders’ body launches website

 GUWAHATI, Oct 20 – The Guwahati Senior Citizens’ Association (GSCA) on Saturday opened a website in order to establish links with the wider world. Launching the website, DN Chakravartty, president, GSCA, said that with the inauguration of the facility, 25 lakh elderly citizens of the State would be able to establish communication with their counterparts throughout the country and the world at large.

The meeting held on the occasion was addressed by Tabiul Hussain, Ramanikanta Deka and Jagat Chandra Bora.

The association also paid tributes in the hallowed memory of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaroa on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary.

Several speakers, including DN Chakravartty, Ramanikanta Deka, Bhaimon Hazarika, Geeta Devi, Hemchandra Sarma and SK Baruah, in their speeches, described Bezbaroa as the most outstanding literary figure of modern times in Assam, and referred to his seminal contributions towards Assamese literature, covering all its branches as something without parallel.
