NAGAON, Oct 19 - A meeting of the State BJP’s minority wing was held here today at Salpara in Samaguri constituency. The meeting was organized by State BJP’s minority wing in association with Kaliabor district unit of the wing to strengthen the saffron party in Samaguri constituency.

Muktar Hussain, the State president of the wing, presided over the meeting in which Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass were present as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Addressing the gathering, Sonowal said that Assam has all possible ingredients to make it one of the best places in the world and, for that, all people irrespective of caste, tribe and community must come together with sincerity and honesty.

He appealed to all the party leaders and grassroot workers at all levels not to create chaos and unpleasant situations by making derogatory remarks in public forum.

Taking a dig at the opposition Congress, Sonowal said due to the dirty politics of Congress, earlier during the tenure of the Congress government, huge irregularities engulfed almost all departments in the State. But now such irregularities are gradually disappearing, Sonowal claimed.

Significantly, it was observed in the meeting today that the new district president of BJP’s Kaliabor district minority wing Sohidul Islam, who was one of the closest associates of former Congress minister Rokibul Hussain, was sitting along with Sonowal on the dais today.
